Hair Loss

: Causes

As we age our bodies begin to breakdown. The wear and tear of things from everyday life to stress, chemical’s in our environment and food to serious illness or injury, and most commonly known, genetics. Frustrating and defeating as it might seem, there are some prevention methods one can take to slow this process. For instance, the repetitive daily routine of wearing a hat can actually rub on hair follicle’s enough to start the thinning and potentially balding effect prematurely.

Genetic bloodlines predisposed to balding might find thinning hair to occur much earlier in life, for some it could start as early as their teenage year’s. Rapid hair loss can also be a major warning sign of serious and life threatening illnesses and should not be taken lightly. Malnutrition is also a major cause of hair loss, a poor diet does not give your body the proper nutrients it needs and has many detrimental effects. Over processed, dyed, bleached and permed hair makes hair brittle and can cause serious breaks resulting in frizziness and sometimes even bald spots.

While it is healthy in many ways to be outdoors, improper protection can also allow the sun to do irreversible damage to the hair follicle’s. The sun isn’t the only outside element to be wary of, chlorine treatments used to clean pools and the harsh salt in the ocean waters are major factors as well.

Hair loss is not limited to men alone, while not as common, women also may experience similar results most commonly caused by over processing hair.
